Marshlands T-shirt Design

Collaboration with Marshlands Jiu Jitsu

The Marshlands (a former swamp in Zwolle), is where the gym originated and got it’s name from. That’s why I thought it would be cool to draw an alligator for this project.

The man choking him out is a nod to Helio Gracie. Helio took the sport from Japan to Brazil, perfected it and then spread it across the world.

The pattern in the boarder is a hommage to the Brazilian ‘Marajoara’ culture, which dates back to approximately 1000 BC and is known for it’s beautiful pottery pattern designs.
